What a busy month!!!!

Christmas has been and gone and the New Year is almost upon us.

We had a lovely afternoon at the tea dance in HG Wells. There was a full hall and we even won a small prize at the raffle.

Vera, Colin, Jan, Iris, Freda and John all had a dance.

Tina from High Kicks and Heels did a wonderful performance with a mix of Christmas songs with the usual golden oldie classics!

Again, several residents got up to dance and we had a very enjoyable afternoon.

A large group of residents went to the Hen and Chickens for a pub lunch before Christmas, we were very lucky and got VIP treatment because the cook opened the kitchen on her day off just for us of which we were very grateful for.

We had a group from Bisley Church led by Pauline and Alison who came to the home to sing carols and celebrate the true meaning of Christmas with our residents. It was a good turnout and their efforts were appreciated by Elmfield.

Elmfield was invited to take part in the Christmas service at Bisley church and Susan Findlay very kindly took this opportunity to represent Elmfield by doing a reading at the service; thank you!

A small group of residents went to a Christmas tea afternoon at Bisley Hall which was enjoyed by those who participated. It was nice to be part of the local community.

Some residents visited Guildford cathedral for their annual Christmas carol service which turned out to be a highly anticipated event thoroughly enjoyed by all.

We had a fantastic Christmas party which was very busy! A singer called Portia sang a melody of Christmas songs and carols in her angelic voice.

The mulled wine and Baileys hot chocolates went down a treat and Dawn did an amazing job with the buffet afterwards.

Thank you to all the directors, staff, relatives and residents for making it a joyous occasion. A lot of time and effort goes into making all events successful so THANK-YOU!

We had a visit from Santa on Christmas Day morning who distributed a gift to each resident. Everybody seemed pleased with their gifts.

Christmas Day was very busy with lots of visitors and several residents were taken out to be with loved ones.

Those who stayed at Elmfield enjoyed a 3 course Christmas dinner, pulled crackers, drank wine and prosecco and had a lovely time with staff. Most people needed an afternoon snooze after eating so much food!

Thank you to all staff who worked over the Festive period for giving up time with your own families to work, it is appreciated.

Upcoming events:

After the busy Christmas period January will be quiet in comparison.

We have our monthly high kicks and heels to look forward to (date to be confirmed)

Staff and resident changes:

We have recruited Alisha Gunn and Isatou Tambajong to the care team at Elmfield. Both are bank staff to cover a mix of day and night shifts when needed.

We also said goodbye to Charlotte Edmunds who has left the night carer’s team.

We welcomed Patricia Humphries to Elmfield. She came to us mid- December and she is getting used to life at Elmfield. Pat is getting to know the residents and staff here. Everyone hopes that she will be happy with us.

Birthdays:

December was a rare month with no birthdays to celebrate.

Other news:

Niccii is on annual leave from 2nd- 9th January so will not be at Elmfield until 10/01/18. Please see the senior team (Chris, Lisa, Suma) or Diane to answer any queries or questions.

Niccii would be grateful if relatives could please write reviews on our business page for Elmfield. This was new with our website which launched in October and can be found by google searching Elmfield House Ltd; a photo of the home appears and you can log in with a g-mail account to leave a review.

There are still some relatives who have not yet completed a Quality Assurance questionnaire.

We would be very grateful if you could do this as your feedback is very valuable in helping us to identify what we do well as a service and also provides important information about what we can do to improve.

Employee of the month:

Employee of the month for December is awarded to Dawn Dorey for consistently doing over-time, her tremendous effort catering for the Christmas party and continued reliabiity.

Happy New Year

The directors, manager and staff at Elmfield is wishing all our residents, relatives and friends a prosperous 2018.

Thank you for your continued support.
